lightning needs to strike in order to illuminate is a performance/installation consisting of a web of mobile black lines guiding and manipulating the audience’s movement. together with the performers, the spectators become part of a constantly transforming environment, part of an unstable and temporary network of encounters. as the architecture transforms and the entropy increases, the lines become slowly one single thick knot of dense, dark, matter.

the installation was created as result of a four-week-residency at theater rotterdam.
