nine

nine is a project developed during a 4-weeks-residency at campo arte contemporanea, teresina (brazil). the performance, created together with a group of 11 brazilian women, is a silent scream for fairness and gender equality in a context where being a woman means to be daily confronted with lack of safety and with injustice. the performers use their own saliva and urine to mark the territory in a ritualistic act of reappropriation of the space. afterwards, while the sun slowly set, they disappear unnoticed into the darkness, merging with the surrounding.
